Yes. Halloween: The Game supports crossplay, allowing players on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC to play multiplayer across platforms. Xbox officially lists cross-platform multiplayer and co-op as supported features, while IllFonic’s September 8 Day One Patch directly addressed a problem affecting crossplay parties.

For most players, that means the system you choose does not have to match the system your friends use. A PS5 player can join the same cross-platform multiplayer ecosystem as players on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

There is one distinction worth knowing before you buy another copy, though: crossplay and cross-progression are not the same thing. Playing with friends on another platform is supported. Moving your own levels, unlocks, and progression between platforms is a separate question.

If you need release date, price, editions, single-player and full platform information rather than multiplayer compatibility, see our Halloween: The Game complete guide.

PS4 + current platformsNo current PS4 version
Xbox One + current platformsNo current Xbox One version
Nintendo Switch / Switch 2No announced version

The important limitation in the bottom three rows is not a crossplay restriction. Those systems simply do not currently have an announced version of Halloween: The Game.

The live platform lineup remains PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC. The official PlayStation Store listing currently lists the PS5 version, while the official Xbox listing covers Xbox Series X|S.

What Crossplay Actually Means Here

Crossplay matters more in Halloween than it would in a single-player game. This is because its main online mode is asymmetrical multiplayer.

A full match supports up to five online players. One person plays Michael Myers. Four others play Civilians trying to survive in Haddonfield.

Without crossplay, groups would be divided by hardware. A PS5 owner would stay in the PlayStation ecosystem. An Xbox player would stay in the Xbox ecosystem. PC players would depend on their own platform.

Crossplay removes that barrier.

It does not automatically mean that purchases, save data, unlocked cosmetics, or account progression will follow you between platforms. Those are separate features.

Can PS5 and Xbox Players Play Together?

Yes.

A PS5 player and an Xbox Series X|S player can join Halloween: The Game’s cross-platform multiplayer.

The Xbox Store page explicitly lists both Xbox cross-platform multiplayer and Xbox cross-platform co-op, as well as online multiplayer for 2 to 5 players.

The PlayStation Store listing confirms that the PS5 version supports up to five online players.

That makes PS5-to-Xbox one of the most useful crossplay combinations for groups whose friends are split between PlayStation and Xbox.

You do not need everyone in the group to buy the same console version to play together online.

Can PS5 Players Play With PC Players?

Yes.

Halloween: The Game launched on Windows PC alongside PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The PC version is available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Cross-platform multiplayer connects supported versions of the game.

You can check the PC release directly on the official Steam listing.

This is useful for mixed groups where one or two players prefer PC but the rest use consoles.

Can Xbox Players Play With PC Players?

Yes.

This pairing has especially clear storefront confirmation because the official Xbox listing explicitly marks the game as supporting Xbox cross-platform multiplayer.

The supported Xbox hardware is Xbox Series X|S.

The game is not currently listed for Xbox One, so “Xbox crossplay” should not be interpreted as support for older Xbox hardware.

What About Steam and Epic Games Store?

Halloween: The Game is available for Windows through both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Steam currently lists online PvP and online co-op, while IllFonic’s Day One Patch documents crossplay parties operating during matchmaking.

You can check the current PC information on the Halloween: The Game Steam page.

One thing that can cause confusion is that storefront feature labels are not always identical across platforms.

If one store page does not show a particular badge, that should not automatically be treated as stronger evidence than the developer’s own patch notes and live crossplay functionality.

How to Add Friends on Another Platform

Halloween uses an in-game cross-platform friends system rather than relying entirely on PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam or Epic friends lists.

A current post-launch walkthrough from GamesRadar reports this process:

  1. Open the Multiplayer section.
  2. Open the friends interface.
  3. Switch to the Crossplay tab.
  4. Reveal your crossplay friend code or enter your friend’s code.
  5. Send or accept the request.
  6. Form the party before starting matchmaking.

You can see the current interface instructions in GamesRadar’s crossplay walkthrough.

Because this is a current in-game walkthrough rather than a permanent developer support article, exact menu labels may change after future patches.

If your screen differs, follow the labels shown in the latest game build.

Can You Turn Crossplay Off?

The current game build includes a crossplay matchmaking option according to GamesRadar’s post-launch walkthrough.

The documented route is:

Multiplayer → Settings → General → Cross-play matchmaking

From there, crossplay matchmaking can be toggled.

The current menu route is documented in GamesRadar’s crossplay guide.

There is an obvious tradeoff to disabling the feature: your matchmaking pool becomes smaller because players using other supported platforms are excluded.

For a 1v4 multiplayer game, keeping a larger matchmaking pool can be useful, particularly outside peak hours.

Crossplay Had Problems During Early Access

Players searching for information about crossplay may still encounter older posts saying that the feature was broken.

Those reports were based on a real launch-period problem.

IllFonic addressed it directly in Patch 1.0.1, released with the game’s full launch on September 8.

Before the fix, crossplay party members could be sent back to the main menu or separated from their group when the party leader entered matchmaking.

IllFonic stated that the patch corrected this behavior so crossplay party members could follow the leader into the matchmade lobby.

You can read the fix in the official Day One Patch notes.

Older Early Access reports therefore should not automatically be treated as descriptions of the current build.

That does not mean connection issues are impossible. It means the specific crossplay party problem documented by IllFonic was patched.

What Changed After Patch 1.0.1?

IllFonic followed the Day One Patch with Patch 1.0.2 on September 11.

That update covered more than crossplay. It included fixes for crashes, stability problems, player interactions, challenges, achievements, progression and gameplay balance.

The developer also acknowledged heavier stability and performance problems on Xbox Series S and said further improvements were being worked on.

You can read the changes in the official Patch 1.0.2 notes.

On September 17, IllFonic shared another development update.

It covered crashes, bugs, progression issues, and balance changes.

It also outlined more fixes and a larger quality-of-life update for early October.

That status is available in the official September 17 development update.

This matters because launch-week troubleshooting advice can become outdated quickly while the game gets active patches.

Crossplay Is Not Cross-Progression

These two terms solve different problems.

Crossplay asks:

Can I play with a friend who owns the game on another platform?

For Halloween: The Game, yes.

Cross-progression asks:

If I switch platforms, will my level, unlocked items and progression come with me?

This is where the evidence is less straightforward.

The official sources reviewed for this guide clearly confirm crossplay, but they do not currently provide a public cross-progression feature statement.

GamesRadar’s current hands-on guide reports that progression does not transfer between platforms, including levels and unlocked customization items.

You can see that distinction in their crossplay and cross-progression guide.

Because IllFonic’s current public material does not make a separate cross-progression promise, the safest practical advice is:

Do not buy another platform version expecting your existing progress to transfer unless IllFonic confirms that feature.

Steam Cloud should not be confused with cross-progression either. Cloud saves inside Steam do not automatically mean progress transfers to PlayStation or Xbox.

Do You Need PS Plus for Crossplay?

If you are playing online on PS5, yes.

The PlayStation Store listing states that PlayStation Plus is required for online play and that the game supports up to five online players.

Crossplay does not bypass PlayStation’s normal requirements for online console multiplayer.

The game also includes single-player content, which is why online play itself is optional.

What About Xbox Online Access?

Crossplay does not replace Microsoft’s normal requirements for online console multiplayer.

If an Xbox account cannot access online multiplayer, enabling crossplay inside Halloween will not override that account-level restriction.

Before troubleshooting Halloween itself, make sure the Xbox account being used can access console multiplayer.

If Halloween Crossplay Is Not Working

Do not start by reinstalling the entire game.

Try the simplest checks first.

Make Sure Everyone Has the Latest Update

A mixed-platform party becomes harder to troubleshoot when one player is using an older game version.

Close the game and check for updates on every platform.

This is particularly important during the current post-launch period because IllFonic has been shipping fixes quickly. The Patch 1.0.2 notes show how broad some of those fixes have already been.

Check the Crossplay Setting

If your current version displays the cross-play matchmaking option under multiplayer settings, make sure it has not been disabled.

A disabled setting would naturally remove other platforms from matchmaking.

Recreate the Party

If cross-platform friends appear correctly but the group does not move into matchmaking together, leave the party and create it again.

Party-following behavior was the exact area addressed in the Day One Patch.

Restart the Game

A restart is a sensible troubleshooting step before reinstalling the game.

IllFonic has instructed players to restart the title after some launch-period fixes and server-side corrections.

Check Console Online Access

On PS5, verify that the account has the necessary PlayStation Plus access.

On Xbox, confirm that the account can use online console multiplayer.

Parental controls and privacy settings can also affect interaction with players outside the local platform ecosystem.

Check the Latest Official Update

Halloween: The Game is still in an active post-launch patch cycle.

If several people suddenly experience the same crossplay problem, check IllFonic’s official game news before changing router settings or reinstalling the game.

A current acknowledged matchmaking problem is more useful than an old launch-week workaround.

Report Persistent Problems

IllFonic has asked players reporting technical issues to include useful details such as platform, username, hardware and the circumstances surrounding the problem.

Their September 17 development update explains the type of information the team is using to investigate ongoing issues.

Can PS4 or Xbox One Players Join?

No current version exists for either platform.

Halloween: The Game is currently listed for PS5, not PS4, and Xbox Series X|S, not Xbox One.

The PlayStation Store and Xbox Store both make the supported console generation clear.

So a PS4 owner cannot use crossplay to join a PS5 player because there is no current PS4 version to launch.

The same applies to Xbox One.

Crossplay connects supported versions of a game. It does not make unsupported hardware compatible.

Does Halloween: The Game Have Split-Screen Crossplay?

Crossplay and local split-screen are different features.

Crossplay allows people on separate supported systems to connect over the network.

The current official storefront descriptions cover single-player and online multiplayer, but they do not advertise local split-screen multiplayer.

The Xbox feature listing currently emphasizes online multiplayer and online co-op rather than local multiplayer.

If two people are sitting in the same room and want to join one online match, do not assume one console can provide two local player slots unless IllFonic later documents that capability.

The Practical Answer Before You Buy

If your main concern is whether a mixed PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC group can play Halloween: The Game together, crossplay means everyone does not need to own the same platform version.

The current supported ecosystem includes current-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles plus Windows PC, and IllFonic has already shipped a specific fix for crossplay party matchmaking.

The bigger caution applies to players who personally want to switch platforms.

Crossplay is confirmed. Cross-progression should not be assumed.

So:

  • PS5 player with an Xbox friend: supported.
  • Xbox Series X|S player with a PC friend: supported.
  • PC player with PS5 friends: supported.
  • Buying another platform version and expecting all unlocks to transfer: do not assume this.
  • Trying to play from PS4 or Xbox One: no current version exists.

Verification Notes

This guide separates confirmed platform information from details that may change during the post-launch period.

Officially confirmed: cross-platform multiplayer, supported platforms, PS5 online requirements, Xbox cross-platform capabilities, and IllFonic’s crossplay party fix.

Current in-game walkthrough information: friend-code setup and the current crossplay settings menu documented by GamesRadar.

Not treated as an official promise: cross-progression. Current reports say progression does not carry over between platforms. The developer’s public materials for this guide do not list cross-progression as a feature.

GamingStation has not claimed first-hand testing for this article. Platform and feature information was checked against current developer, storefront, and established gaming sources on September 22, 2026.
